Module 1

This module is an introduction to circuts.

Activity 1

I didn't properly look at the slideshow so I started off by making a circut that didn't work. I put one piece of tape down.

I then taped the light down on top of my first piece of tape.

Then, I attached a piece of tape and folded it over so it could touch the battery.

When that didn't work, I tried putting the tape down another way.

I finally looked at the slideshow and understood how to properly set it up.

Instead of one piece of tape, I put two down and then taped the light down so it would be two paths, one positive and one negative.

Here is my first functional circut lit up.

I wanted to try and create a bracelet. I began by curving the ends of the light so I could sew it on a piece of felt.

I marked this half negative so I would know how to position the battery.

This photo shows how I positioned the battery. The negative side of the battery touches the front of the bracelet's negative side and the positive side of the battery touches the back of the bracelet's positive side.

I wanted to try to create a star. I started by mapping out how many pieces of tape I needed.

I then put two pieces of tape down to put the light over them.

I taped down the light and then put more pieces of tape down to create the rest of the star.

This is the star lit up.

I wanted to create a jewelry piece. I began by looping the thread through the light.

I twisted the thread together to secure it and thicken it so it wouldn't hurt my hand.

I positioned the light on my middle finger and looped the thread around my fingers.

I used tape to secure the thread on the fingers.

When I touch my fingers together, the light lights up.

Activity 2

Interaction: Opening a marker.

Idea: When the marker is open, the light is lit up.

Interaction: Pressing a key on a keyboard.

Idea: When a key is pressed, the light is lit up.

Interaction: Pushing down on a pump.

Interaction: Zipping up a sweater.

Idea: When the zipper is up, the strings light up.

Interaction: Opening a book.

Idea: When the book is opened, an illustration is shown and contains lights that are lit.

Idea: When the pump is pushed down, the light is lit up.

Interaction: Turning on a faucet.

Idea: When the faucet is on, the light is lit up which changes the colour of the water.

Interaction: Scrolling with a mouse wheel.

Idea: When the mouse wheel scrolls, the lights are lit up one by one.

Interaction: Opening a bottle.

Interaction: Opening a box.

Idea: When the box is opened, the light inside is lit up.

Interaction: Opening a cabinet.

Idea: When the cabinet is open, the light inside is lit up.

Idea: When the bottle is opened, the light attached to the lid is lit up.

Interaction: Opening an earbuds case.

Idea: When the earbuds case is opened, the light is lit up.

Interaction: Taking out an earbud.

Idea: When one earbud is taken out, the light corresponding to that earbud is flashing.

Idea: When both earbuds are taken out, both lights corresponding to each earbud are lit up.
